Redo

charlsiesprewellartist.comThis a 24x24 acrylic painting.  I started this painting a few months ago and was not happy with it.  I put it away and brought it back out today.  The colors were just not working for me.  I played and played until I was happy with the outcome.  Just goes to say that an artist should never throw out a painting because you don't like it.  Put it away and bring it back out later.  A fresh eye can make all the difference needed.  I am so glad it is finally finished.  Woo Hoo!      cfspre@bellsouth.net

All That Jazz 12x12 cfspre@bellsouth.net

I began this painting after a trip to New Orleans a few months ago.  The unique atmosphere of this southern city put a desire in me to paint a jazz musician.  I have several other photos from this trip that I plan to paint.  I knew when I started that I wanted to have color showing through in the dark areas of the painting.  I think it makes it much more interesting.  Don't you agree?

First painting posted.

This is an 11x14 acrylic painting.  My favorite subject to paint is florals.  I love using bright colors and layering the paint.

My first blog!

I am so excited about writing my first blog!  Painting is a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing it with others.  I love creating and playing with the paint on my canvas.  Acrylic has been my choice of medium for the last few years.  I have had experience with watercolor and oils too.  Using a palette knife is my favorite way to paint. Spreading, carving and scraping with my knife is so much fun.  It is freeing in a way because the knife can make so many interesting marks and I don't feel like I have to stay in the "lines".  I guess that is all for now.  Talk to you soon!
