Rose Hips by Charlsie Sprewell

Rose Hips

While walking through my garden, I noticed rose hips all over my rose bushes.  The hips are the fruit of the rose.  They are so pretty in a little vase or pitcher.  This was the inspiration for this acrylic painting.

Table Numbers

Table Numbers
cfspre@bellsouth.net

I painted 19 of these table numbers for a wedding rehearsal dinner.  The hydrangeas are painted on pieces of reclaimed wood.  I made the easels out of  cut twigs.  I now have a new order for 8.  Gotta get busy!

Grandmother's Garden

I typically work with acrylics, but one day I decided to pull out my oil paints.  I do enjoy the smooth movement of the oil paint when using my palette knife.  I'm just not patient with the drying time. My grandmother always had a beautiful garden.  Every season different  flowers were blooming.  My love of gardening no doubt came from her.

Coastal Grass by Charlsie Sprewell

Coastal Grass

This oil painting was done from a photo that I took on the coast of Georgia.  I was amazed at all of the beautiful colors in the grass.  The texture is heavy due to my palette knife.

Feeding The Flock

Feeding The Flock
cfspre@bellsouth.net

I entered this painting for The Community Foundation of West GA. art show. They raise money for various charities around the West GA area. The theme was "community".  My bird feeder was the inspiration for my entry.  All kinds of birds visit the feeder and I feed them all.  My community is very instrumental in feeding the hungry (flock).  I won Honorable Mention for this painting.

Yellow Finch by Charlsie Sprewell

The Yellow Finch is one of my favorite birds here in Georgia.  The contrast of the yellow feathers with the black is very appealing to the eye.  When I put out a sock of thistle seed, they flock to it!  Watching the feeder inspired me to paint one of these beautiful birds.  This acrylic painting is done on a 6x6 wrapped canvas.

RED BARN by Charlsie Sprewell

RED BARN

Can you believe that you aren't looking at a floral painting?  Ha! Ha!  I took a change of pace with this farm scene.  Enjoy because there may not be many of these.

FLORAL STRIPES by Charlsie Sprewell cfspre@bellsouth.net

FLORAL STRIPES

This is a mixed media piece of art.  I used paper and acrylic paint.  I plan to do more mixed media with different objects that I have collected.  I look forward to the "designing" process. Hope you like it and I welcome your comments.

HIDDEN IN THE GRASS by Charlsie Sprewell cfspre@bellsouth.net

HIDDEN IN THE GRASS

While in Minnesota a few years back,  my husband and I discovered a tiny little nest hidden in the tall grass.  I was amazed at how many eggs were in it.  This painting is one of several from that memorable trip.

TULIPS by Charlsie Sprewell cfspre@bellsouth.net

This painting was a delight to paint.  Tulips are a favorite in my garden. The table cloth was especially fun as I layered color after color building texture.  Hope you like it!

SPECIAL OCCASION by Charlsie Sprewell cfspre@bellsouth.net

SPECIAL OCCASION

It is with great pleasure to be posting again on this blog. My elderly mom has been ill and has required a lot of my attention and then my daughter had surgery right after Christmas. I'm so glad that things have settled down and I am able to get back to what I love-Daily Painting!
